Target membership

The number of Hindus* who work in the industries based predominantly in London’s square mile and canary wharf is steadily increasing. They have chosen careers as investment bankers, magic circle lawyers, actuaries, big four accountants, management consultants etc. These professionals form the target group of our membership.

* Before the target membership was considered, it was important to decide on a definition of Hindu. In a judgment the Indian Supreme Court ruled that “no precise meaning can be ascribed to the term ‘Hindu’ … and no meaning in the abstract can confine it to the narrow limits of religion alone, excluding the content of Indian culture and heritage”. For our purposes we attribute as wide a definition to Hindu as possible. We do not only consider those who follow Hinduism but also include Sikhism, Jainism and Buddhism, etc. whose systems are inalienably linked to it.
